Best. Image. Ever.

This might be the most inadvertently funny thing I’ve ever seen. To put in in context, recall that FEMA is the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which you may further recall is the government agency currently taking flak from the American people for its apparent ineptitude at handling the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Taking so much flak, in fact, that then director of FEMA, Michael Brown, eventually resigned from office under considerable pressure.

So, anyways, I went to the government’s FEMA website today, and found they have a site for children to learn about FEMA, called (believably enough) FEMA for Kids. And under the About FEMA link, you can learn about the current acting director of FEMA, David Paulison.

But the best part is the cool, kid-friendly banner graphic on the page:

Now, I don’t know about you, but I figure that the federal agency under fire for its handling of a recent catastrophic hurricane might do better to promote a positive public image than to have a banner on its children site depicting a screaming child running in abject terror from the onslaught of tidal waves.

But what do I know?
