A few minutes into the Calculus I final exam I administered earlier tonight…
Student: I’ve got a problem.
Me: What is it?
Student: Um… yeah… I didn’t know we were supposed to bring our computers for the exam.
Me: I’ve been announcing it in class for over a week.
Student: Yeah… well… I haven’t been showing up regularly.
Me: Apparently not. Are you sure you’re in the right classroom?
Student: I dunno. Is this Dr. Z’s Calc I class?
Me: You don’t know your professor?
Student: [ shrugs sheepishly ] Are you Dr. Z?
Me: Dr. Laura Z?
Student: [ shrugs sheepishly again. ] Um… yeah?
Me: The computer is the least of your problems.
