Today is my birthday.
Being a mathematician, I pulled out as many pennies as my age. I noted that if I arranged the pennies in a rectangular array, they formed a perfect square.
I then noted that I could also rearrange the same pennies in a hexagonal array to form an equilateral triangle.
I don’t think I’ve ever been able to do that before.
How old am I?
36. 😀 It’s 6*6 and the sum of the numbers from 1-8 (I hope that’s how a hexagonal array is arranged!). Interesting problem!
